Many elements of a true Japanese interior cannot be bought in America, so we build them: kitchen cabinets in the Japanese style, walk-in closets, reception counters, shelving, and the formal joinery of the tokonoma alcove (tenbukuro, jibukuro, chigai-dana).

Every piece starts as a CAD drawing for you to review, with the parts and costs specified. For traditional work, each detail is checked against the historical form before a single cut. Then Toshio builds it with his own hands, and only what he is satisfied with is delivered.

The tea house on Cape Cod

At the end of the war, the American ambassador brought a formal tea house from Japan to Cape Cod. Seventy years later it stood like a ruin. We restored it: shoji windows and doors, fusuma, the mizuya shelves, the engawa veranda, jurakukabe plaster, and tatami.

That restoration is the standard the workshop holds itself to: not "Japanese-style," but the real construction, done properly, piece by piece.
